Zionsville, IN, July 8, 2008 – Martha “Vagabond Granny” Mazzei, a

71-year-old breast cancer survivor, is riding 8 thousand miles across the United States to raise money for the United Breast Cancer Foundation (UBCF), an organization that helps low-income women get treatment for breast cancer.  Lion’s Park was one of her stops on July 6.

During the weekly concert at the park, Mazzei took donations and sold t-shirts for $10 each to raise money for the foundation.  While she was visiting Zionsville, she stayed with Nancy Walworth, a former classmate at Shaw High School in East Cleveland, Ohio.

Mazzei’s main goal is to spread awareness of the UBCF and teach the importance of early detection, which Mazzei attributes to her survival.

“If only one person is saved by (early detection), it’s an opportunity most people don’t have in their lives,” Mazzei said.

Mazzei keeps a video blog of her travels at www.ubcf.info/c/311/martha-mazzei-video-blog.
