Michelle's Story

On behalf of my mother and me, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your generosity in allowing me the honor to be the recipient of the united Breast Cancer Foundation Audrey B. Mastroianni Scholarship. We are very honored to be the recipients of this honor.

My mother is very excited to have found such an amazing organization. It's rare for people in these days and times to do anything that is completely unselfish and unconditional. She would like to spread the word to anyone in need. It has been a very difficult road and having the honor to have found an organization like this is something we will never forget. My mother is a two time breast cancer survivor and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. Your program has allowed her to feel better about her whole person which she very rarely takes time to do. She is always stretching her hand out to help others and she is extremely thrilled to have found someone who will help her in return.

I am currently a senior and Schreiber High School and my GPA is 3.98. I have completed all classes and I have taken all the regents necessary for my Advanced Regents Diploma. My goal is to complete my degree in English at St. John's University in Jamaica, Queens. I also plan to minor in theatrical arts. While attending school I have been involved with the Drama Club and Boy Scouts of America. In the Scouts I have also helped organize three blood drives, many different food collections, beach clean-ups and many more community projects. I recently received the rank of Eagle Scout for my outstanding service after 13 years of faithful scouting and my project was a Disability Equipment Drive for those who are suffering form cancer and other medical issues.

Receiving this scholarship motivates me to maintain my GPA and to work to be my besting college to continue to make my mother proud. I look forward to being able to give back to the community once I begin my career. We thank you for your confidence and willingness to help me achieve my goals. I also personally thank you in giving me the chance to make my mother smile at another one of my achievements.
