Silvia's StorySilvia is a 56 year old woman who cleans houses for a living. She became a patient of Venice Family Clinic a few years ago after moving to the area and hearing about it through a friend. Neither she nor her husband has insurance through their jobs and Venice Family Clinic is the only option for them to receive medical care. Silvia came to the Clinic one day for a regular breast screening; it was her first and she was nervous. She had many questions, "Will it hurt? Will it take long? How soon will I know the results?" The other women in the waiting room had experience with breast screenings and re-assured her that the procedure would be quick and painless with only minor discomfort. The support of the other women helped her relax. She mentioned to the program coordinator, "I am so thankful to be able to come to the clinic, which I know and trust, to have this test instead of being referred somewhere else." After Silvia completed her screening she approached the coordinator, smiled and said "Thank you!" before rushing off back to work. | Dena's StoryMy mother's ordeal with breast cancer has affected me greatly in obvious and subtle ways. I now view life as more precious and to be enjoyed, day by day. We are here on earth for an unspecified amount of time and it should be continually appreciated. I will always cherish the time I had with my mother... Call or Click |
