Tracie W's StoryDear UBCF,
Thank you so much for awarding me an Individual Grant. Having been diagnosed with breast cancer 10 months ago has made life very challenging. I have been given co nsidera ble peace of mind from this grant award with financial help towards my home mortgage payment for the next four months. I have been unable to work due to a m astectomy followed by 16 weeks of chemotherapy and 7 weeks of radiation. We were already struggling to make ends meet when my husband was laid off due to lack of work a few months prior to my diagnosis, so this has been a very challenging past 2 years due to both situations. I was very fortunate to have access to a patient advocate through Solace Cancer Care, where I am going for my medical care. Solace had paperwork from available from United Breast Cancer Foundation to write in for a grant which I did and you responded, thank you again. I feel I am healing well due in part to compassion you have shown in helping ease the financial burden so many people suffer in times of a health crisis. I am striving to return to my job with the Redding School District working in Resource and Special Education as an Instructional Assistant. I hope that I can be an inspiration to others who struggle with health problems and physical disabilities by going forward with a positive attitude and counting the blessings we all have no matter what life hands us.
Sincerely, Tracie W | Dena's StoryMy mother's ordeal with breast cancer has affected me greatly in obvious and subtle ways. I now view life as more precious and to be enjoyed, day by day. We are here on earth for an unspecified amount of time and it should be continually appreciated. I will always cherish the time I had with my mother... Call or Click |
