UBCF Provides Grant to The Gathering Place

UBCF PROVIDES GRANT TO THE GATHERING PLACE The United Breast Cancer Foundation has recently named The Gathering Place a 2008 UBCF Grant recipient. The Gathering Place is located at 23300 Commerce Park, Beachwood, OH 44122. UBCF grant funds will continue to support an overnight retreat will serve 25 women and will be held, once again, at the Red Maple Inn which is located in a very beautiful and tranquil setting in Burton, Ohio. UBCF funded the same retreat in 2007. The retreat brings women with breast cancer together for an overnight, away from the stressors in their daily lives, where they can learn complementary healing skills, explore some of the issues that cancer has brought to their lives, and develop a sense of community with each other. Included in the program will be a combination of group discussions and experiential activities including: yoga, music, dance, energy work, spirituality, journaling, and relaxation and imagery. The Gathering Place serves a diverse population that includes people from all races and socioeconomic levels from all of the areas surrounding Cleveland. The Gathering Place is a caring community that supports, educates and empowers individuals and families touched by cancer through programs and services provided free of charge. The Gathering Place has a family focus with programs and services for both adults and children. We offer a variety of complementary-integrative care programs and services which include adult support groups, children’s support programs, yoga, tai chi, massage, Reiki, art therapy, an education center/lending library, one-to-one services, and special programs and lectures.
