What to Look For in a Thermography Center

Recently UBCF has experienced an influx in applicants specifically interested in receiving assistance for a breast thermography.  At this time, we are only aware of one medical insurance carrier, Aetna, which will cover the cost of a thermography.  If you do not have Atena, you are responsible to pay out of pocket for this screening.  This is where the United Breast Cancer Foundation comes in.  UBCF is the only known foundation that assists with the expense of this screening technology for the detection of breast disease.  Thermography is a painless, non-invasive, state-of-the-art clinical test without any exposure to radiation.  Thermography may be used as part of an early detection program which affords women and men of all ages the opportunity to increase the chance of detecting breast disease at an early stage.  Thermography may detect cancerous cells up to 6 years sooner than other breast screening technologies.  Due to the increase number of people interested in thermography, we thought it a good idea to inform our clients on what to look for in a facility.

Mr. Peter Leando, founder if Meditherm, is the ultimate authority on thermography.  Mr. Leando created the camera used in thermography as well as an online interpreting service that is staffed by fully certified MD's.

The facility you choose should be:

  • American College of Clinical Thermology Inc. (ACCT) approved.  You may visit the ACCT web site, www.thermologyonline.org  to locate registered facilities in your area.
  • Using Meditherm’s online interpreting service to read your thermographic images

Or:

  • Be board eligible to read thermographic images, with the appropriate technician training courses completed at Duke University, approved by the ACCT.
  • Practicing with a Meditherm camera such as the med2000™ (PRO) / (IRIS) with Meditherm Interpretation and reporting software.
